Energy efficiency programs – Efficient construction and renovation

New efficient construction

The New Efficient Construction grant encourages the construction of new buildings that demonstrate improved energy performance compared to their baseline :

  • Institutional buildings (belonging to Government of Quebec):   + 10% ≥ NECB 2015-Qc (government’s exemplary measures)
  • Other buildings:   + 5% ≥ NECB 2015-Qc

Why improve a building’s energy performance?

Improving the energy performance of a building right from the design phase has several advantages: reducing your energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, as well as providing better thermal and acoustic insulation, compared to a similar building that didn’t implement energy efficiency measures. These significant benefits will help increase the value of the asset and will benefit its occupants throughout the lifespan of the building.

Grant – Energy simulation fees

Get up to 75% of your energy simulation fees covered

We will cover up to 75% of energy simulation fees, to a maximum of $15,0001.

Grant – Construction

Save $5/m3 on construction!

The grant provides $5/m3 of natural gas saved. The maximum amount of the grant1 per account number served by natural gas is $325,000.

Who are these grants for?

These grants are for Énergir’s current or future customers in the commercial, institutional, industrial or multi-unit housing (four or more units) sectors.

Current customers:

You use natural gas as the main source of energy for space or hot water heating for the purposes of your project.

Future customers:

Since April 1, 2024, any new connection to Énergir’s grid must be powered by 100% renewable energy:

  • Electricity and renewable natural gas (RNG) dual energy
  • 100% RNG

Visit our webpage for more information and contact your Energy Solutions representative or Major Industries advisor for full details.

To be eligible for the program, buildings must have an improvement of the NECB 2015-Qc reference :

  • Institutional buildings (belonging to Government of Quebec):   + 10% ≥ NECB 2015-Qc (government’s exemplary measures)
  • Other buildings:   + 5% ≥ NECB 2015-Qc

How to get the grants?
  • Conduct an energy simulation of your new building and have it validated by an engineer who is a member of the OIQ. Then, follow the next steps outlined in the Participant’s Guide and NC – New Construction Form.

Note:

Need to install natural gas appliances in a new construction?

You could benefit from grants if you opt for high-efficiency appliances. Visit each appliance’s webpage for information, terms and conditions, and the steps to apply for a grant.

Maisons des aîné·e·s (MDA)

Designed as resident-focused living environments for seniors facing a loss of independence, MDAs must combine comfort, community and environmental sustainability.

To that end, designers have implemented ingenious solutions that focus on energy efficiency and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction.
