Energy Efficiency

New Terms and Conditions

As you know, we are evolving our energy efficiency programs to optimize their performance and remain relevant in light of market developments. The following new terms have been in effect since February 25, 2026.

EMS aligned with Hydro-Québec now available

Easier implementation of efficiency measures for large projects

Optimized new construction

The energy management system (EMS) aligned with Hydro-Québec is now available and targets industrial customers consuming more than 2 million m3 of natural gas per year and registered for Hydro-Québec’s Rate L.

Customers will be able to participate in both programs simultaneously and sign a separate agreement with each distributor in order to benefit from the grants1 they offer. It is also still possible to implement an EMS exclusively with Énergir.

New shared documents have been developed to support and guide EMS implementation while also simplifying subsidy applications.

To facilitate the implementation of large-scale projects exceeding $750,000, we are introducing early financial assistance of 25% at the start of the project in order to provide greater flexibility for customers. To learn about all the conditions and eligibility criteria, talk to your designated advisor.

Please also note a relaxation of the project’s overall payback requirement: a measure whose PRIgaz exceeds 20 years will be eligible if it is accompanied by at least one other measure submitted at the same time and if the overall PRIgaz for the project remains below 20 years.

To encourage the construction of even more efficient buildings, certain adjustments have been made to the eligibility criteria for the New Construction program:

  • The minimum savings threshold has increased to 15,000 m3
  • The grant1 for energy simulation fees is now 50% of the simulation fee with a cap of $15,000
  • The savings measures affecting domestic hot water flow rate are no longer eligible
