Energy efficiency programs – Efficient equipment for businesses
Grant for a smart thermostat for your home
A smart thermostat is designed to maximize your comfort and peace of mind. It’s an effective way to better regulate your energy consumption.
Advantages of a smart thermostat
The main advantage of a smart thermostat is that it’s connected to a wireless Internet network, allowing you to control your home’s heating or cooling system remotely. The mobile app used to control your thermostat lets you, for instance, set the temperature in your home, even when you’re away.
The mobile app also makes programming your thermostat a breeze. Once you put in the occupancy and set temperatures, the thermostat will adjust and provide personalized recommendations to improve your energy performance.

Tips

- Can be connected to a local wireless data transmission network (Wi-Fi), enabling remote control of the heating/cooling system;
- Is installed according to the manufacturer’s specifications for your safety and warranty.
- Future customers: To learn more about the steps involved in switching to natural gas and the possible costs, see the steps for connecting.
Tips to reduce your heating consumption
In Québec, heating alone accounts for a very large share of energy consumption. How much energy is used for heating depends on several factors, including climatic conditions, building age and size, the number of people occupying the space to be heated, and the fuel prices.
But taking a few simple steps (like programming your smart thermostat!) can help you save energy:
- Lower the temperature by 1 degree;
- Lower the temperature at night;
- Reduce your home’s temperature by 3 to 5 degrees when you are away.
Renewable natural gas: Your decarbonization ally
Have you thought about powering your efficient equipment with renewable natural gas?
You can replace part of your natural gas consumtion with renewable natural gas (RNG), or even all of it.
This energy is 100% produced from organic waste and recognized by the Quebec government as a renewable energy.
1For occupants of residential buildings that have a natural gas central heating system or who wish to connect their home to Énergir’s natural gas network.
Limit of one thermostat per heating system. Other conditions may apply.
Program terms and conditions and the amounts of financial assistance are subject to change without notice. In all cases, the grant will be paid to the holder of the Énergir account number.
