Recovering lost energy to save money and decarbonize: A winning solution for the Produits Kruger plant in Sherbrook
Between 2022 and 2026, Kruger’s Sherbrooke plant in the Eastern Townships—which produces, among other things, toilet paper and paper towels for several well-known brands—invested more than $10 million in an energy recovery system for hot-air dryers. The project will enable the plant to save more than four million m³ of natural gas and reduce its GHG emissions by 7,825 tonnes annually*.

Energy management systems: A structured approach to unlocking the full potential of energy efficiency
Earlier this year, Énergir and Hydro-Québec aligned their financial assistance programs for the implementation of energy management systems (EMS) by commercial and industrial businesses. In this article, we explain what this type of system involves, the measures needed to deploy it successfully, and its benefits in terms of energy consumption, as well as competitiveness and sustainability

Three solutions for optimizing process waste energy recovery
Recovering the energy contained in process steam is a proven way for businesses to reduce their energy consumption and operating costs. In this article, we present three steam recovery technologies and their benefits, along with a concrete, quantified application example for each one.

Collège Bourget: Dual energy driving decarbonization
In 2024, Collège Bourget, a private school with more than 1,800 students in Rigaud, in the Montérégie region, launched a major decarbonization project aimed at reducing its GHG emissions by at least 50% and lowering its energy bill. Thanks to an innovative financing structure involving SOFIAC, the technical expertise of the E’nergys group, and Énergir’s guidance and financial assistance, the Collège was able to deploy a new, highly efficient dual-energy infrastructure that enabled it to achieve its goals without spending a dollar.
