Update to interruptible offer

In recent weeks, the Régie de l'énergie published its decision regarding the interruptible offer proposed by Énergir. In its decision, the Régie favorably received the interruptible proposal. The following table summarizes the options retained by the Régie:

Option 1 - Interruption at peak

CreditInterrupts
  • Fixed: $0.25/m 3 applicable on the daily interruptible volume (DVI) annually
  • Variable: $4/m 3 for each cubic meter interrupted applicable on the DVI
  • Fixed credit paid to customers in 4 installations: December, January, February and March
  • Maximum number of days: 5
  • Days interrupted may be consecutive
  • Quantities available may be limited. Énergir will therefore choose customers with the highest DVI.

Option 2 - Unlimited seasonal interruption

  • Fixed: $2/m 3 applicable on the DVI annually
  • Variable: $0.25/m 3 for each cubic meter interrupted applicable on the DVI
  • Fixed credit paid to customers in 4 installations: December, January, February and March
  • According to supply needs
  • Maximum number of days determined at the time of the rate application

The application of the interruptible offer, including a transition period, along with the terms and conditions, will be studied in phase 4 of the rate application vision. The implementation of these options is not feasible before the 2023 2024 rate year. More details will follow in the next few months and over the coming year. Changes to RNG offered in the last three months

Over the last three months, Énergir has continued to expand its supply of renewable natural gas (RNG) by securing additional volumes. Last July, the Régie approved four new RNG supply contracts, the first injections of which are expected in Fall 2021 and 2022. Also, a request for approval of a new supply contract in Québec is currently under review by the Régie.

This decision has a major impact on the quantity of RNG that Énergir can now offer its customers. The cumulative contracted volumes of RNG available for sale will increase by more than 125%. The addition of these contracted volumes is a step toward achieving the government target of 2% (120 Mm 3 ) in RNG supply by 2023. Energir is also collaborating closely with various players in the development of this sector to meet that objective!
