Énergir and the Fédération québécoise des municipalités pool their efforts and sign an agreement to improve their public infrastructure management

December 1, 2016 - Press releases

Montréal, Thursday, December 1, 2016 – Gaz Métro and the Fédération québécoise des municipalités (FQM) are pleased to announce the signing of an agreement to facilitate the management of interventions on their urban infrastructure networks. Among other things, it sets out the intervention, installation and operating conditions of Gaz Métro’s gas distribution system on the territory of the municipalities covered by the agreement. The agreement was officially signed today in the presence of several municipal representatives as part of the Assemblée des MRC organized by the FQM.

“The FQM is very pleased that Gaz Métro took into consideration our members’ concerns regarding the proper execution of work on our territory,” said Richard Lehoux, FQM President. “This agreement reached with Gaz Métro establishes a clear framework for collaboration between our municipalities and Gaz Métro. It will certainly improve the efficiency of activities carried out and the quality of our relations.”

The FQM member municipalities that signed the agreement and Gaz Métro will now benefit from a framework that promotes the consistent and harmonious management of network interventions. It also provides for the equitable sharing of costs related to the presence and management of Gaz Métro activities. The municipalities that opt in will also receive compensation, predetermined in the agreement, for any impacts.

“Gaz Métro is thrilled to have reached this agreement, which provides concrete solutions that meet the needs expressed by the municipalities. As a partner in their economic development, Gaz Métro is always seeking to work better with municipalities; we are convinced that this agreement will promote and enhance the quality of our relations with them,” said Stéphane Santerre, Senior Director, Operations, at Gaz Métro.
