Energy Efficiency
We are pleased to confirm that the Régie de l’énergie has accepted all of our requests for the Global Energy Efficiency Plan, and some of our programs have higher grants.
You can find below full details about enhancements to existing programs. The new terms and conditions have been available to customers since November 5, 2024.
To comply with the new federal regulations, we’re also announcing the end of the condensing boiler grant program for the Business market.
Mechanical system overhaul
Did you know that recommissioning mechanical systems can reduce a building’s energy consumption by 10%–15%?
We want to promote this energy efficiency measure and have therefore improved our offer:
- Up to 75% of costs associated with each phase (compared to 50% previously)
- Implementation phase: $1.00/m³ (compared to $0.30 $/m3 previously)
- Up to $100,000 per project
Efficient New Construction: Adjusted Criteria for Institutional Buildings
We’ve raised the minimum energy performance requirement for institutional buildings to align the terms of our program with the government’s effort to lead by example:
- Institutional buildings (belonging to Government of Quebec): + 10% ≥ NECB 2015-Qc (government’s exemplary measures)
- Other buildings: + 5% ≥ NECB 2015-Qc
Higher infrared grants
Heat wide spaces efficiently with infrared.
We’ve increased our grant from $500 to $800 per device, regardless of power. Certain conditions apply.
End of grants for boilers – Business equipment program
Canada’s Energy Efficiency Regulations herald the coming into force of a minimum efficiency requirement of 90% for boilers with a capacity greater than or equal to 300,000 BTU/hr, effective January 1, 2025.
With this new energy performance requirement, condensing boilers will become the market standard, and we will no longer be able to justify maintaining our existing boiler programs. As a result, we will be ending the following grants:
- Mid-efficiency boilers: Grants ending December 31, 2024
- Condensing boilers (capacity > 300,000 BTU): Grants ending March 31, 2025
Signed contracts must be received before the grant program closes.
Grants will then be paid out within 10 months of the end date of the programs, if the eligibility criteria have been met.
If you are planning to replace boilers, act fast in order to benefit from our grants as long as they are available:
- up to $11,500 for a mid-efficiency boiler.
- up to $25,000 for a condensing boiler with capacity above 300,000 Btu/hour
See the list of eligible equipment, the conditions of the programs and the eligibility criteria on our website and take advantage of our grants while there’s still time!
