The Fédération québécoise des municipalités and Énergir sign a new agreement for sound urban infrastructure management
December 19, 2019 - Press releases
Montréal, Thursday, December 19, 2019 – The Fédération québécoise des municipalités (FQM) and Énergir are pleased to announce that they have entered into a new agreement to facilitate urban infrastructure management. Covering the eight-year period from 2019 to 2027, the agreement sets out the conditions for the maintenance, repair, installation and operation of Énergir’s gas distribution system in the municipalities.
“This new agreement is the result of close collaboration between the municipalities and Énergir. As a spokesperson for Québec’s outlying regions, the FQM is proud to have contributed to forming this partnership, which helps municipalities improve how they manage initiatives related to their urban infrastructures,” said Jacques Demers, President of the FQM, Mayor of Saint-Catherine-de-Hatley and Prefect of the RCM of Memphrémagog.
The municipalities who are members of the FQM and adhere to this agreement will benefit from an increased annual lump-sum payment equivalent to 2.5% of the total value of the work involved in implementing and improving Énergir’s gas network in their area. The agreement also provides for the equitable sharing of costs related to the existence and management of Énergir gas facilities.
Furthermore, Énergir is offering a roadway performance guarantee of four years following completion of the work and, where possible, will limit interventions on roadways which have been subject to major work within the past five years.
“Énergir is delighted to have signed this agreement, which will promote better planning with regard to urban infrastructure management for the municipalities,” said Éric Lachance, Senior Vice President of Énergir. As a partner in the economic development of the municipalities, Énergir is confident that this agreement will help us maintain high-quality relationships with them.”
The agreement is available here (French version).
