Making Buildings Carbon Neutral — Rolling out Énergir’s 100% Renewable New Connections Initiative
We have received the green light from Régie de l’énergie to deploy a 100% renewable energy supply for all new connections to our natural gas network. This initiative is aimed at all new residential, commercial and institutional buildings that connect to our grid for the first time and will came into effect starting inon April 1, 2024.
We are the first natural gas distribution company in Canada to roll out such an initiative. It is one more step towards decarbonizing our network and the energy footprint of our customers. What’s more, it will also contribute to decarbonizing building heating and to achieving Québec’s GHG reduction targets.
