Changes in C&T prices over the last three months

Over the last three months, the price of emission units on the market slightly increased to US$0.21, going from US$17.75 on January 8,2021, to US$17.96 on April 8, 2021 (+1.18%).

During that time, the price hit a peak of US$18.01 on February 24, 2021, the date on which the results of the February 17, 2021 auction were released. At this first auction of 2021, the final selling price of current vintage emission units was set at US$17.80, while that of future vintage emission units was set at US$18.01.

Since mid-February, prices have generally followed a downward trend, stabilizing around US$17.95 on average since early April 2021. However, they have stayed close to the floor price of US$17.71 due to uncertainty and the economic slowdown caused by the third wave of COVID19. Still, the effect on carbon market prices has been much more subdued than that observed during the first wave in the spring of 2020. The progress of the vaccination program in the United States and the approval of President Joe Biden's recovery plan are bringing a certain amount of stability to the American C&T market.

Do you have excess units to sell

We would like to remind you that mutual agreement transactions with Énergir for emission units that meet C&T compliance criteria are possible. If you have units that exceed your needs and you would like to sell them, please contact us to discuss it.
